Description
The Carolinas Group Therapy Society’s program for Spring is for re-calibration. We invite you to share time with the CGPS community, to add to your resilience storage by connection with your professional peers. In doing so, may you become primed for the joys and challenges ahead!
Members of process therapy groups are sometimes presenting with more heightened emotion than usual. This could be an artifact from projection that includes context.
As humanitarian crises and natural disasters are on the rise, power structures in the world are focused on liquidating rather than preserving natural resources and humane practices.
The impact on the collective psyche is profound. As we explore the complexities of human nature layered within a systemic anxiety in our groups, strong emotion can escalate out of the blue into cryptic, confusing reactivity that may activate a group leader's reptilian brain.
As the masculine principle dominates culture, an insidious stress permeates the human psyche. Being telegenic triumphs over accumulated wisdom. Winning trumps authenticity.
In this atmosphere, a group leader’s sturdiness and skillful interventions are essential to supporting clients as they navigate through difficult personal struggles in an environment of disaster.
This program is open to group therapists, and healthcare professionals who are group therapy curious. This gathering is an opportunity to refill our buckets through creative process.
Group Description:
Following movement activities (Qigong, walking trails), we will come together as an experiential group to help metabolize the emotions we carry as facilitators of healing. Using writing prompts, we will explore imagination as a source of healing. Through shared movement, discussion, and reflection, this program is an opportunity to build connection while replenishing our spirit. We seek to empower each other onward, as guides for the groups we serve.
The Carolinas Group PsychotherapySocietyinvites therapists who deliver group therapy services to experience the community of the Carolinas affiliate of the American Group Therapy Association.CGPS is dedicated to the training, growth and development of group therapists. We come together as friends and fellow navigators of the human psyche, to explore the conundrums we all face. Join us to refresh and network, in the preeminent professional home for group leaders.
