ABout us

We are a professional group psychotherapy society whose members are from all mental health disciplines, including Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychiatric Nurses, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors, Coaches, as well as students, interns, and residents in these disciplines.

Our society serves both North Carolina and South Carolina and welcomes participants from other states.

We are an affiliate of the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) whose mission we actively support.

Our Mission

• Provide training experiences through workshops, conferences, and supervision and consultation groups
• Provide networking opportunities and peer support for professionals interested in psychotherapy and group psychotherapy
• Promote social interaction and communication among group psychotherapists
• Support members in establishing and leading process oriented psychotherapy groups
• Facilitate deeper understandings of our personal and professional selves to enhance our effectiveness in working with groups, individuals and couples
• Engage and promote diversity in membership and programs and enhance awareness of issues of diversity and their psychological and societal impacts
